Steam Clean Carpet With Allergies - Vacuum the carpet to remove any loose dirt.
Remove the water container from the steam cleaner. Fill the container with warm water and two capfuls of a cleaning solution. Cleaning liquids can be found at most hardware stores.
Place the water container back into the steam cleaner.
Start from one side of the room and work your way towards the center so that you are not stepping on areas already cleaned.
Pass the steam cleaner wand over the carpet. The warm water and cleaning solution are extracted over the floor. As the water and solution is extracted, the wand vacuums up the water and dirt. The carpet typically takes up to eight hours to dry.
Over time, carpets collect dirt and debris deep within the fibers. Dirt that isn't properly removed results in dust, mildew and mold and can cause allergies. The process of steam cleaning a carpet allows water and cleaning solution to deeply penetrate the fibers, therefore removing dirt and allergens. A steam cleaning machine can often be rented from most hardware stores. Carpets should be steam cleaned at least twice a year to keep the fibers looking new and prevent allergies.
