Clean a Bedroom While Battling Dust Allergies - Take some allergy medication prior to cleaning so that the medication is in your system. Medicine affects people at different rates, so if it takes two hours for your allergy medicine to kick in, take the medicine two hours before you plan on cleaning.
Wear a mask to keep dust out of your nose and mouth. As an extra precaution, you could wear goggles to keep the dust out of your eyes if your allergies are more severe. Visit a local home improvement store for masks that builders wear to keep dust particles out of their lungs.
Vacuum using a machine that has HEPA filters. HEPA filters suck up particles from the carpet that otherwise would be kicked up into the iar. Make sure that your vacuum's filter is clean so that the filter works properly.
Steam clean the carpet. Steam cleaning goes deeper into the carpet than vacuums can go, thus removing more allergens.
Dust using a damp or static-charge cloth. When you dust using a duster, dust particles get stirred up and released back into the air. With a damp cloth, the dust sticks to the cloth and can be rinsed away.
Cleaning with allergies can be quite a task. Whether you're tidying up your bedroom for a spring cleaning or preparing a guest room for company, at some point a bedroom needs cleaning. It may seem next to impossible to clean thoroughly with dust allergies without having a reaction but with enough care, you should be able to make it through cleaning relatively sneeze-free.
