Handle Allergies - See an allergist. A doctor who specializes in treating allergies can help you identify what your triggers are. She will likely order skin testing and blood work.
Limit exposure to allergens. Once tests are completed and your allergens are determined you can start to make changes. Some people are allergic to pollen, mold or per dander. Keep windows and doors closed and use an air conditioner. Reduce mold growth by using an exhaust fan when you shower and keeping sinks and showers clean and dry.
Use a HEPA filter. The filter may help reduce allergens in the air such as pet dander. Some vacuums have HEPA filters which may also reduce allergens.
Take medications. Depending on the symptoms you have different medications may be helpful. Your doctor can determine what medications may work best. Antihistamines may reduce a runny nose and sneezing. Decongestants may help with a stuffy nose and eye drops may reduce itchy eyes.
Be aware of the allergy forecast in your area. Most local weather reports will provide information on the air quality. If you have environmental allergies you can take preventive measure. Stay indoors as much as possible.
