Get Rid of a Cat Allergy

Get Rid of a Cat Allergy - Kick the cat out of bed. Probably the longest time you'll spend with your cat is sleeping with him. Unfortunately, that will be the worst time for your allergies. By eliminating sleep time with kitty, you may very well cut down your allergic reactions to almost nil.

Install an air purifier. Air purification (through either a HEPA filter or electronic device) will bring an incredible relief to any cat allergy. A whole house air purifier would be best, but a couple of decent room purifiers will be very helpful.
Check out treatments that will decrease dander and cut down on the protein antigens in your cat's saliva; these things are likely sources of the allergy. There are several products sold at pet stores that can help reduce or eliminate cat dander and saliva. These can be applied daily.

Vacuum daily. A good HEPA approved vacuum cleaner will suck up all the cat dander that has fallen onto your carpeting.

Investigate allergy shots or medication. If you cannot bear to part with your cat--yet have serious allergies--you may be able to "immunize" your body to your cat by getting allergy shots or taking prescription medicine. However, you cannot do either of these things unless you are under a doctor's supervision.

Perhaps you are beginning to suspect that your beloved cat is the source of your runny nose, itchy eyes and red face. If that's your suspicion, you are probably deeply concerned about finding a way to get rid of your cat allergy so that the kitty can continue to live with you. Fortunately for all dander-sensitive cat lovers, you have several options when it comes to dealing with cat allergies.
