Get Rid of Allergic Shiners - Try to identify allergy triggers such as pollen, mold, dust, ragweed and so on. If you know what triggers your nasal allergies try to avoid the triggers as much as possible. Clean and dust regularly to reduce these triggers in your home. Treat your yard with products that will kill pollen and weeds.
Take an antihistamine. These can be purchased over the counter and are good for treating allergies. Antihistamines are good for treating itchy and watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing, and other allergy symptoms. Some antihistamines can make you sleepy so read the back of the box about any cautions you should take. It’s best not to take them if you’re going to be driving or operating machinery.
Use nasal sprays. You can get prescription or over the counter nasal sprays to treat your nasal allergies and common cold symptoms. If you use the sprays before your symptoms start, the symptoms can be prevented.
Ask your doctor about getting a prescription for nasal steroids. You will need to use nasal steroids daily for the best effect and there may be some side effects that you should discuss with your doctor.
Hold a hot towel over your eyes and nose. This will help with any eye puffiness as well as help to open and drain your nasal passages. You will need to repeat the process of holding the hot towel over your eyes and nose several times a day. You can also put sliced cucumbers or hot tea bags over your eyes to help lessen any puffiness.
No one likes to have dark circles under their eyes. While some causes can be a lack of sleep, stress, eczema, heredity, constant rubbing of the eyes or dehydration, some dark circles under the eyes can result from hay fever and other allergies. When the circles result from nasal allergies, colds, or sinus infections, they are called allergic shiners
